Customer Complaints Filed Against Rick Lopez For Broker Misconduct

In May 2017, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Enrique Lopez by a customer of LPL Financial LLC alleging breach of contract and warranties; violation of Texas State Securities Statutes; negligent supervision; violation of the Texas Business and Commerce Codes; violation of consumer protection statutes, negligent misrepresentations, unjust enrichment, and breach of duties; unsuitable investment recommendations and violations of FINRA Rules; and vicarious liability. Per the customer, he/she lost over $3,759,713.55 because of Mr. Lopez’s actions. On April 6, 2021, an arbitration panel found that Mr. Lopez was negligent and awarded $864,839.70 in compensatory damages, $350,000 in additional damages, and $340,000 in attorney’s fees in favor of the customer.
In January 2020, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Enrique Lopez by a customer of LPL Financial LLC alleging unsuitable investment recommendations and failure to non-traded REIT investments. On March 5, 2021, Mr. Lopez settled the claim for $75,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Lopez’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In June 2019, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Enrique Lopez by multiple customers of LPL Financial LLC alleging that between 2014 and 2016, Mr. Lopez misrepresented and recommended unsuitable, concentrated investments in speculative real estate investment trusts. Customers also allege that the advisor recommended an unsuitable annuity switch. Per the customers, they lost over $2,000,000 because of Mr. Lopez’s actions. On December 8, 2020, Mr. Lopez settled the claim for $150,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Lopez’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
