In June 2023, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Bret Schaefer by a customer of Woodbury Financial Services, Inc. alleging that variable annuity purchased in 2021 was unsuitable. Per the customer, he/she lost over $53,114 because of Mr. Schaefer’s actions. On May 24, 2023, Mr. Schaefer settled the claim for $53,114, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Schaefer’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In December 2021, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Bret Schaefer by multiple customers of Woodbury Financial Services, Inc. alleging that Mr. Schaefer misrepresented the time horizon of alternative investments purchased between 2015 and 2019. Per the customers, they lost over $5,000 because of Mr. Schaefer’s actions. On April 21, 2023, Mr. Schaefer settled the claim for $30,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Schaefer’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In June 2021, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Bret Schaefer by a customer of Woodbury Financial Services, Inc. alleging unauthorized trading and questions on the suitability of certain alternative product recommendations. Per the customer, he/she lost over $5,000 because of Mr. Schaefer’s actions. On December 16, 2022, Mr. Schaefer settled the claim for $510,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Schaefer’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In May 2021, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Bret Schaefer by a customer of Landolt Securities, Inc alleging loss in Baakan. Per the customer, he/she lost over $200,000 because of Mr. Schaefer’s actions.
