Customer Complaints Filed Against Craig Friedrichsen For Broker Misconduct

In January 2023, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Coach Craig by customers of Voya Financial Advisors, Inc. alleging that Mr. Friedrichsen recommended investments that were largely concentrated in illiquid, speculative, low-quality, and high commission non-traded real estate investment trusts and Business Development Companies. Per the customers, they lost over $50,000 due to Mr. Friedrichsen’s actions.

In November 2021, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Coach Craig by multiple customers of Voya Financial Advisors, Inc. alleging that Mr. Friedrichsen sold alternative investments which were misleadingly represented as low risk, safe and suitable investments in 2015. Per the customers, they lost over $100,001 due to Mr. Friedrichsen’s actions. On April 5, 2023, Mr. Friedrichsen settled the claim for $42,500, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Friedrichsen’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In September 2021, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Coach Craig by multiple customers of Voya Financial Advisors, Inc. alleging that Mr. Friedrichsen sold alternative investments which were misleadingly represented as low risk, safe and suitable investments. Per the customers, they lost over $105,000 due to Mr. Friedrichsen’s actions.

In December 2017, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Coach Craig by a customer of Voya Financial Advisors, Inc. alleging that Mr. Friedrichsen never made the client aware that the REIT company retained the right to stop paying cash dividends in favor of dividend reinvestment. Per the customers, he lost over $5,000 due to Mr. Friedrichsen’s actions.

In January 2009, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Coach Craig by a customer of H&R Block Financial Advisors alleging that Mr. Friedrichsen set up 72t payments in a manner designed to avoid adversely impacting her lifetime withdrawal guarantee amount. The client adds that Mr. Friedrichsen submitted the 72t calculation to Metlife for review; however, Metlife would not affirm or deny the accuracy of the proposed 72t amounts, and the 72t payments resulted in a reduction of client’s lifetime withdrawal guarantee amount. There was no exact alleged damage amount. On July 28, 2009, Mr. Friedrichsen settled the claim for $5,022.35, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Friedrichsen’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
