In April 2021, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Galen Kopman by a customer of LPL Financial LLC and Gentaurus alleging that investments in alternative investments were unauthorized and unsuitable. The client added that her funds were misappropriated, and that a document may have been forged. Per the customer, she lost over $8,000,000 because of Mr. Kopman’s actions.
In October 2020, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Galen Kopman by a customer of Centaurus Financial, Inc. alleging that Mr. Kopman invested the client’s accounts in unsuitable, high-risk and illiquid investments in 2014 through September 2016. On March 1, 2021, Mr. Kopman settled the claim for $30,774, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Kopman’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In October 2019, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Galen Kopman by a customer of LPL Financial LLC alleging that Mr. Kopman recommended an unsuitable investment in a business development company in October 2013 which conflicted with Claimant’s true investment objectives and needs, ultimately causing her monetary damages. Claimant alleges her representative was motivated by commissions, and consequently misrepresented/omitted the illiquid investment’s risks. Per the customer, she lost over $160,000 because of Mr. Kopman’s actions. On May 20, 2020, Mr. Kopman settled the claim for $115,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Kopman’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In June 2016, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Galen Kopman by a customer of LPL Financial LLC alleging that Mr. Kopman’s recommendations were unsuitable, and that the documentation was altered. Per the customer, she lost over $172,283 because of Mr. Kopman’s actions.
