In September 2020, a complaint was filed against or in reference to James Docster by a customer of Waddell & Reed Inc. alleging that Mr. Docster acted upon the instructions of a person not authorized as POA to liquidate the holdings in the account in March 2020. Per the customer, he/she lost over $33,154.46 due to Mr. Docster’s actions.
In April 2010, a complaint was filed against or in reference to James Docster by a customer of Waddell & Reed Inc. alleging that Mr. Docster sold an unsuitable variable annuity on June 2, 2008. Per the customer, he/she lost over $33,361.02 due to Mr. Docster’s actions. On November 22, 2010, Mr. Docster settled the claim for $9,304.52, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Docster’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In June 2005, a complaint was filed against or in reference to James Docster by multiple customers of Waddell & Reed Inc. alleging that Mr. Docster’s recommendation in February 2005 to redeem all mutual funds to purchase variable annuity was not understood by the clients prior to their authorization of the transaction. Per the customers, they lost over $14,432.12 due to Mr. Docster’s actions.
