In November 2020, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Joe Franklin by multiple customers of LPL Financial LLC alleging that the clients invested in Franklin Square BDCs, Hines Global REIT, HMS Income Fund, WP Carey, CIM Real Estate Financial Trust, KBS Real Estate Trust and Cion Investment Corp upon their Franklin’’s misleading recommendation, which did not suit their allegedly conservative investment profile. Per the customers, they lost over $153,000 because of Mr. Franklin’s actions. On February 14, 2022, Mr. Franklin settled the claim for $14,999, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Franklin’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In July 2018, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Joe Franklin by a customer of LPL Financial LLC alleging misrepresentation in connection with the purchase of Puerto Rico municipal bonds in June 16, 2010 to June 1, 2018. Per the customer, he/she lost over $64,499.07 because of Mr. Franklin’s actions.
In August 2007, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Joe Franklin by a customer of Raymond James & Associates, Inc. alleging that Mr. Franklin made a poor recommendation that caused 22% losses on investment.
