In July 2023, a complaint was filed against or in reference to John Demertzis by a customer of LPL Financial LLC alleging that between 2016 and 2023, Mr. Demertzis made unsuitable recommendations that customer purchase and hold certain alternative investments. Per the customer, he/she lost over $700,000 because of Mr. Demertzis’s actions.
In October 2001, a complaint was filed against or in reference to John Demertzis by a customer of Citicorp Investment Services alleging that Mr. Demertzis recommended an investment that was not approved by the firm and also sought losses in an annuity product alleged to be guaranteed against principal loss. Per the customer, he/she lost over $50,000 because of Mr. Demertzis’s actions. On November 29, 2001, Mr. Demertzis settled the claim for $14,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Demertzis’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In March 2000, a complaint was filed against or in reference to John Demertzis by a customer of Citicorp Investment Services alleging that upon investing in CF TNX, Mr. Demertzis told the client that she could get 18% with no risk and that she could get out tomorrow with no penalty. The client further alleges that when Mr. Demertzis switched her from CFTNX to Rochester funds, he again told her that she could get out at any time with no penalties. Per the customer, she lost over $7,889.41 because of Mr. Demertzis’s actions.
