In May 2023, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by a customer of Cetera Advisors LLC alleging that Mr. Barrand recommended unsuitable investments that resulted in losses. Per the customer, he/she lost over $40,000 because of Mr. Barrand’s actions. On August 24, 2023, Mr. Barrand settled the claim for $4,500, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Barrand’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In November 2021, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by multiple customers of Cetera Advisors LLC alleging that Mr. Barrand recommended unsuitable investments that resulted in losses. Per the customers, they  lost over $100,000 because of Mr. Barrand’s actions. On January 5, 2023, Mr. Barrand settled the claim for $42,450, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Barrand’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In February 2021, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by multiple customers of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC alleging the clients’ assets were over concentrated in unsuitable and illiquid alternative investments. Per the customers, they lost over $100,000 because of Mr. Barrand’s actions. On April 20, 2022, Mr. Barrand settled the claim for $500, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Barrand’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In February 2021, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by a customer of Cetera Advisors LLC alleging that Mr. Barrand recommended she invest in Business Development Corporation of America (“BDCA”) while at Cetera and the BDCA was illiquid and unsuitable for her. Furthermore, the client alleges she didn’t receive adequate disclosures about the product. Claimant also alleges that she requested a redemption in January 2018 and that it was not executed in time causing a further decline in the value of her account. Per the customer, she lost over $25,000 because of Mr. Barrand’s actions. On August 18, 2021, Mr. Barrand settled the claim for $5,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Barrand’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In February 2021, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by multiple customers of Cetera Advisors LLC alleging that the clients’ assets were over concentrated in unsuitable and illiquid alternative investments. Per the customers, they lost over $100,000 because of Mr. Barrand’s actions. On April 1, 2022, Mr. Barrand settled the claim for $30,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Barrand’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In September 2020, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by a customer of Cetera Advisors LLC alleging unsuitable investment recommendations. Per the customer, he/she lost over $150,000 because of Mr. Barrand’s actions. On April 29, 2022, Mr. Barrand settled the claim for $32,500, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Barrand’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In January 2020, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by a customer of Cetera Advisors LLC alleging that Mr. Barrand recommended unsuitable investments, to include Oppenheimer Steelpath MLP Alpha Plus Fund and Northstar Healthcare (a non-traded REIT investment) and seeks $65,000. Per the customer, he/she lost over $65,000 because of Mr. Barrand’s actions. On February 5, 2021, Mr. Barrand settled the claim for $14,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Barrand’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In February 2019, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by a customer of Cetera Advisors LLC alleging that Mr. Barrand failed to perform due diligence, unsuitable investment, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and negligence. Per the customer, he/she lost over $100,000 because of Mr. Barrand’s actions. On June 18, 2019, Mr. Barrand settled the claim for $22,500, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Barrand’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In August 2018, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by multiple customers of Cetera Advisors LLC alleging unsuitable investments. Per the customers, they lost over $5,118.75 because of Mr. Barrand’s actions.

In January 2018, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by multiple customers of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. alleging that the provisions of the clients’ variable annuities and unit investment trusts were misrepresented. Per the customers, they lost over $138,500 because of Mr. Barrand’s actions.

In June 2009, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Mark Barrand by multiple customers of Legacy Financial Services alleging misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty, professional negligence, and violation of security regulations.
