In September 2020, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Sharon Zhang by a customer of Cetera Investment Services LLC alleging that the client was sold an unsuitable product. Per the customer, he/she lost over $2,500,000 because of Zhang’s actions. As of this publication date, this claim remains pending.
In August 2019, FINRA initiated a regulatory action against or in reference to Sharon Zhang. Without admitting or denying the findings, Zhang consented to the sanctions and to the entry of findings that she falsified customer signature pages on member firm account forms for three different customers. The findings stated that Zhang reused customer signature pages without customers’ express permission, and changed the dates on the forms to make it appear as if the customers had re-executed the forms. Zhang’s actions were intended to expedite the processing of transactions that her customers had authorized.
In July 2018, Cetera Investment Services LLC terminated Sharon Zhang for admitting to reuse of customer signature on account documentation.
