In July 2021, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Raul Benitez by a customer of Suntrust Investment Services, Inc. alleging that the client’s Northstar investment was unsuitable. Per the customer, he/she lost over $218,707 because of Mr. Benitez’s actions. On September 9, 2022, Mr. Benitez settled the claim for $175,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Benitez’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In December 2020, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Raul Benitez by a customer of Wells Fargo Clearing Services, LLC alleging that in Summer 2019, Mr. Benitez made unsuitable recommendations and misrepresentations in connection with an investment strategy that involved using a portfolio of securities as collateral for a loan. On January 31, 2022, Mr. Benitez settled the claim for $137,500, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Benitez’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In February 2019, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Raul Benitez by a customer of Suntrust Investment Services, Inc. alleging that the recommendation for a managed/fee based account was not suitable. Per the customer, he/she lost over $10,837.79 because of Mr. Benitez’s actions. On March 11, 2019, Mr. Benitez settled the claim for $8,486.24, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Benitez’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In March 2013, JPMChase Bank terminated Raul Benitez for failing to record in affiliate banks systems the account owner’s dual citizenship or the fact that the funds to be deposited in the account originated from outside the U.S. The registered rep also failed to submit a letter from the account owner instructing liquidation of the trust account for principal review and approval.
