Per the customers, they lost over $5,000 because of Mr. Powell’s actions. On October 28, 2021, Mr. Powell settled the claim for $13,468, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Powell’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In October 2020, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Cedric Powell by multiple customers of Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, LLC alleging that without the clients’ knowledge, Mr. Powell opened new life insurance policies as an investment portfolio, and the Representative wrote the client’s names on the life insurance-related application documents. Per the customers, they lost over $5,000 because of Mr. Powell’s actions. On June 10, 2021, Mr. Powell settled the claim for $95,641.93, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Powell’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In July 2021, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Cedric Powell by multiple customers of Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, LLC alleging that Mr. Powell took personally identifiable customer information with him to new firm. Per the customers, they lost over $5,000 because of Mr. Powell’s actions.
In January 2020, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Cedric Powell by multiple customers of Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, LLC alleging that Mr. Powell didn’t explain all available options for withdrawing money from a 403b retirement account, and they now have a tax consequence of $15,000. The customers also allege that the representative allowed the account to close with a distribution check being sent to them, which they didn’t agree to. Per the customers, they lost over $15,000 because of Mr. Powell’s actions.
