In May 2020, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to Christopher Watts by multiple customers of LPL Financial LLC alleging monetary damages in connection with an investment in a REIT, which they contend was unsuitable for their investment profile. Claimants further allege they were misled about the risks involved in the particular REIT. Claimants allegedly invested $100,000 into the REIT in or around December 2014, which they contend has caused them losses due to the illiquidity. Respondent defends the recommendation as suitable for their investment objectives and tailored to their individual investing needs. On April 13, 2021, Mr. Watts settled the claim for $46,687.50, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Watts’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In October 2015, City Mortgage reported that Christopher Watts had outstanding debt totaling $10,785.  Christopher Watts settled this matter in the amount of $7,000.
