In February 2020, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Douglas Everett by a customer of Voya Financial Advisors, Inc. alleging that he suffered losses in 2019 due to Mr. Everett’s recommendation to invest in HFRO mutual fund. Per the customer, he lost $62,223.07 because of Mr. Everett’s action. On October 26, 2020, Mr. Everett settled the claim for $28,764.07, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Everett’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In July 2016 a complaint was filed against or in reference to Douglas Everett by multiple customers of Voya Financial Advisors, Inc. alleging that Mr. Everett jeopardized their accounts by making risky transactions without their prior approval. Further, these transactions are not in line with the customers’ risk tolerance. The customers also added that Mr. Everett was unable to monitor the market and make transactions. Per the customers, they lost over $20,000 due to Mr. Everett’s actions. On February 16, 2017, Mr. Everett settled the claim for $21,991.18 and some of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Everett’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In October 1999, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Douglas Everett by a customer of American Express Financial Advisors, Inc. alleging that Mr. Everett gave incorrect information regarding the tax implications associated with transferring the ownership of HR IDS single payment variable life policy. On May 22, 2000, Mr. Everett settled the claim for $10,235 and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Everett’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
