In July 2020, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Gordon Shalek by a customer of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC alleging that Mr. Shalek misappropriated a wire transfer in December of 2015 representing a spin-off from a Real Estate Investment Trust. Per the customer, he/she lost over $7,886.70 because of Mr. Shalek’s actions.
In March 2002, a NASD arbitration was filed against or in reference to Gordon Shalek by multiple customers of American Express Financial Advisors alleging unsuitability, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud against AEFA and Mr. Shalek in the recommendation and handling of the clients account. In addition, the clients allege their advisor was not licensed in Colorado at the time he sold AEFA products to the clients. Per the customers, they lost over $102,000 because of Mr. Shalek’s actions. On May 12, 2003, Mr. Shalek settled the claim for $57,500, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Shalek’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In March 2001, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Gordon Shalek by multiple customers of American Express Financial Advisors alleging that Mr. Shalek transferred clients’ investments from a moderately conservative portfolio to a portfolio consisting of mostly equities, which they felt was an unsuitable recommendation. Per the customers, they lost over $14,700 because of Mr. Shalek’s actions.
