In February 2019, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to James Zegers by a customer of Voya Financial Advisors, Inc. alleging that Mr. Zegers failed to properly diversify the portfolio, failed to supervise, breach of contract, and has been negligent based on the purchase of Northstar REIT in January 2013. Per the customer, they lost over $119,073.99 due to Mr. Zegers’s actions. On November 4, 2019, Mr. Zegers settled the claim for $34,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Zegers’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In April 2018, a complaint was filed against or in reference to James Zegers by a customer of Voya Financial Advisors, Inc. alleging that Mr. Zegers advised the client that the investment offered a guaranteed return of 8% per year. Per the customer, he lost over $8,400 due to Mr. Zegers’s actions.
