In February 2022, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to John Broughton by a customer of LPL Financial LLC alleging that Mr. Broughton made a recommendation that he invest in and hold a closed-end fund and a business development company that was unsuitable for the customer’s risk tolerance and investment objectives in 2016. Per the customer, he/she lost over $160,000 because of Mr. Broughton’s actions.

In July 2020, a complaint was filed against or in reference to John Broughton by a customer of Cetera Investment Services LLC alleging that Mr. Broughton misrepresented the interest the client would receive from annuity and the fees charged. Per the customer, she lost over $5,000 because of Mr. Broughton’s actions.

In February 2000, a complaint was filed against or in reference to John Broughton by multiple customers of Natcity Investments, Inc. and Natcity Insurance Services, Inc. alleging that the customers purchased $30,000 of Duke Realty cumulative preferred (8.25%) which was enthusiastically recommended by Nat City despite the cash reserve and all disclosures when the principal declined. Per the customers, they lost over $5,752 because of Mr. Broughton’s actions. On May 23, 2000, Mr. Broughton settled the claim for $5,752.41, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Broughton’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In December 1999, a complaint was filed against or in reference to John Broughton by a customer of Natcity Investments, Inc. and Natcity Insurance Services, Inc. alleging misrepresentation in April 1999. Per the customer, he/she lost over $14,000 because of Mr. Broughton’s actions. On February 16, 2000, Mr. Broughton settled the claim for $5,269.60, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Broughton’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
