In November 2023, FINRA initiated a regulatory action against or in reference to Sara Qazi for allegedly participating in a private securities transaction in which a customer of her member firm purchased $250,000 of preferred stock in a healthcare company without providing written notice to or receiving approval from, her member firm prior to participating in the private securities transaction.
In March 2021, MSSB terminated Sara Qazi for allegations regarding the representative’s participation in outside activities that were not approved by the firm and her forwarding of certain information to a personal email address. The activity did not result in any client complaints.
In April 2008, a complaint was filed against or in reference to Sara Qazi by a customer of UBS Financial Services Inc. alleging the risks involved in purchasing auction rate securities were not disclosed to the client. The client further states he was under the belief that they were fully liquid, AAA rated with no mortgage exposure. Per the customer, he lost over $5,000 because of Ms. Qazi’s actions. On December 23, 2008, Ms. Qazi settled the claim for $175,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Ms. Qazi’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
