Customer Complaints Filed Against Bill Sines For Broker Misconduct

In January 2023, a FINRA arbitration was filed against or in reference to William Sines by a customer of Berthel, Fisher & Company Financial Services, Inc. and Kalos Capital alleging that the investments the client purchased sometime before 2017 at the representative’s prior broker dealer were unsuitable and misrepresented to her. She also alleges the firm failed to supervise the activities of the representative.
In December 2020, a complaint was filed against or in reference to William Sines by a customer of SII Investments, Inc. and Berthel, Fisher & Company Financial Services, Inc. alleging that the investments the clients purchased in 2013-2014 are unsuitable.
In July 2019, a complaint was filed against or in reference to William Sines by a customer of Berthel, Fisher & Company Financial Services, Inc. alleging that Mr. Sines pressured the client into liquidating an annuity which cost her thousands of dollars in surrender penalties and lost interest credit in order to invest her into a REIT which she feels was an inappropriate investment. Per the customer, he/she lost over $38,651.89 because of Mr. Sines’s actions.
In November 2017, a complaint was filed against or in reference to William Sines by a customer of Kalos Capital, Inc. alleging unsuitable recommendations. On March 2, 2018, Mr. Sines settled the claim for $19,737, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Sines’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
In May 2007, a complaint was filed against or in reference to William Sines by a customer of SII Investments, Inc. alleging that the investments placed in REITs are unsuitable for the MARRS Living Trust because they are considered “illiquid.”
In December 2002, a NASD arbitration was filed against or in reference to William Sines by a customer of SII Investments, Inc. alleging that the sale to the client’s of 2 va products in December 2000 & January 2001 were improper & unsuitable. Per the customer, he/she lost over $48,152.55 because of Mr. Sines’s actions. On October 15, 2003, Mr. Sines settled the claim for $36,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. Sines’s employer and/or insurance carrier.
