Per the customer, he/she lost over $54,000 because of Mr. McLaughlin’s actions.

In August 2008, a complaint was filed against or in reference to John McLaughlin by a customer of UBS Financial Services Inc. alleging that the client was advised that there would be minimal financial ramifications associated with moving her funds from an annuity into tax-free municipal bonds. The client also questions the suitability of this investment for her 92 year old mother. Per the customer, she lost over $5,000 because of Mr. McLaughlin’s actions. On October 27, 2010, Mr. McLaughlin settled the claim for $60,000, and some or all of this amount may have been paid by Mr. McLaughlin’s employer and/or insurance carrier.

In June 2002, a complaint was filed against or in reference to John McLaughlin by multiple customers of Mcdonald Investments Inc. alleging that unsuitable investments were purchased for their account. Per the customers, they lost over $216,000 because of Mr. McLaughlin’s actions.
